GE washer on Spring Crest Cir, Tampa: damaged supply line replaced, inlet filters cleaned, same visit, $160.

The complaint. The customer noticed the washing machine leaking from the bottom.

What the technician found. After a thorough inspection, the source was a damaged water supply line. The water was coming from the hose that feeds the machine, not from the tub or the drain.

What was done. The supply line was replaced and the inlet filters were cleaned. The technician then ran the washer through a full cycle and it came through without a leak. The repair was finished on the same visit, and the total was $160, parts and labor.

Four Ways a Washer Leaks, and How to Tell Them Apart

The floor tells you very little about a leak. The moment the water appears tells you a good deal.

Water shows up while the washer fills
The supply side: a cracked or loose supply hose, a coupling at the wall or at the back of the machine, or the inlet valve. The Spring Crest Cir leak was here, in a damaged supply line.
Water shows up when it drains or spins
The drain side: the drain hose, its joint with the standpipe, the pump or the pump’s own hoses. A pump that has started to leak can look dry until the moment it runs.
Water appears while the washer is switched off
A supply hose stays under water pressure whenever the wall valves are open, whether or not the machine is running. A washer that leaks overnight, or while nobody is home, points at the supply line first.
Water seeps steadily, or only around the door
A cracked or dirty door gasket on a front-load washer, or a cracked tub or tub seal. The gasket is easy to see. A leaking seal is not, and it is the bigger repair of the two.

If Your Washer Is Leaking Right Now

Five things that take a minute each and limit the damage.

      • Close both water valves behind the washer, hot and cold, before anything else. A burst hose runs at full line pressure until the valves are shut.
      • Unplug the machine before you wipe or move anything around it.
      • Note when the water appeared: filling, washing, draining or spinning. It narrows the search before the technician arrives.
      • Look at the hoses for bulges, cracks or rust on the couplings, and check that the drain hose is still seated in the standpipe.
      • Dry the floor and the wall behind the machine. Standing water finds its way into the subfloor and under the baseboards.

What Washer Repair Costs in Tampa, FL

One closed job, one real number.

$160 for the GE on Spring Crest Cir
A new supply line, the inlet filters cleaned and a test cycle, with parts and labor in the total, finished in one visit.
      The visit
Free when you go ahead with the repair. The $79 service call is charged only if you hear the diagnosis and the price and decide against the work.
      What changes the figure
Which part has failed. A hose or a gasket is a small part next to a drain pump, a motor, a bearing set or a control board, and a part that has to be ordered adds a second visit.

Washer Repair in Tampa: Frequently Asked

My washer is leaking from the bottom. Where is the water coming from?

It depends on when it appears. During filling, it is the supply side: hoses, couplings or the inlet valve. During draining or spinning, it is the drain hose, the pump or its hoses. Water that appears while the washer is switched off points at a supply hose, which stays under pressure. The GE we repaired on Spring Crest Cir was a damaged supply line.

What did the Tampa washer repair cost?

$160, parts and labor, for a new supply line and cleaned inlet filters, completed on a single visit.

Should I keep using a washer that leaks?

No. Close the water valves behind it, unplug it and leave it until it has been looked at. A leak that is allowed to continue soaks the floor and the wall behind the machine.

Do you repair front-load, top-load and stackable washers?

Yes, along with high-efficiency and compact models, from the major brands.

When do I pay for the service call?

Only if you decide against the repair after the diagnosis and the price. The call is then $79. If you go ahead, the trip is included.

          Where is your Tampa office?

12055 Citrus Falls Cir #306, Tampa, FL 33625. Call (813) 212-4513 or book online.

          How long is the warranty?

Ninety days, covering the parts we fit and our labor.
